    Description

    Original large color lithographic poster for the "Brotherhood Of Railroad Trainmen - Benevolence, Industry, Sobriety." The Brotherhood was one of America's first labor unions. "Organized, Sept. 23rd, 1883" in "Oneonta, N.Y." Originally known as Brotherhood of Railroad Brakemen, in 1890 changed to "Trainmen." That is the reason for speculating the poster is 1890's. Size is approximately 22 x 28 inches. There are 8 panels or inset scenes depicting various "scenes from life;" a mourning widow,
    office handshake, collapsed train bridge, a funeral, guardian on top of moving train, an insurance man handing a check to woman(?), a union meeting(?), and a "happy" family.
    Printed by Crane Litho Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. Some paper toning, a few very light "scuff" marks, tiny hole below the "S" in the word "Sobriety," very minor paper wrinkling, etc. Quite nice condition, with bold colors. Very scarce, very collectible. This poster will be shipped rolled.
