. This listing is for a new 3/8" x 75' winch cable. EIPS IWRC steel core wire rope. Steel core cable is stronger and more crush resistant than fiber core cable. This cable features an alloy SELF LOCKING swivel hook with latch kit on one end (21,400 lb. breaking strength). The SELF LOCKING swivel hook is requested and worth the extra cost to towers who experience problems breaking the latch on standard swivel hooks (see our other eBay listings for cable with standard swivel hooks, non-swivel hooks and fiber core cable).

Some tow trucks are shipped from the factory with Steel core cable. Steel core cable can be either IPS IWRC (Improved Plow Steel Independent Wire Rope Center), EIPS IWRC (Extra Improved Plow Steel IWRC), or EEIPS IWRC (Extra Extra Improved Plow Steel IWRC). Steel core cable is more crush resistant than fiber core but not as flexible. EEIPS is the strongest followed by EIPS and then IPS. The Holmes 1701 is an example of a tow truck where the manufacturer specifies a 5/8" EEIPS cable.
